I am attempting to go through the build list and price the parts or make sense of the parts in the store so that I can accurately gauge what it will cost me to build one. I can't seem to find some of the parts from the guide either in the store or via general web searches. Why aren't the parts listed not just linked to the store?
I am not an electrical engineer but I do have basic knowledge but I can't make sense of the guide very well. I am pretty good at piecing stuff together and programing so if I could make sense of it all and get it bought I don't think I would have an issue with any of it. At this point though understanding what to buy and how it goes together is a huge issue.
I have been searching pretty extensively for the chassis design as well and have yet to find a good drawing showing the parts or where to find them. I was looking at how to 3d print the chassis and none of the affordable 3d printers seem big enough from what I have seen, I am curious as to what everyone uses to print these, I was considering making it out of wood/fiberglass but I need a good set of dimensions to do that.
Any help would be appreciated. I have been researching the forums and everything I can find online for a few months with not much success. I am not one to usually ask for help like this as I am pretty good at searching out where others have posted before.
To build a mower you should buy at least a PCB and the components you must solder. Also some Dc\ Dc converters an Arduino and one INA.
Also you should buy perimeter sender.
Other components like Motor drivers could be replaced with cheaper ones like L298n. In this case you must solder your own small PCB. If you're not so familiar with this topic, you should also buy two motor drivers.
From my point of view it all depends on your budget and time. If money is not important and you don't want to waste time, buy everything from the shop. They only sell great products to best price, really. But your mower will cost a lot.
If money is important, create your own chassis from wood, plastic boxes or a broken commercial mower. You can use other batteries like lead acid. They are cheaper than ardumower battery. But bear in mind that the battery from shop is really great. You will not find a better one for less money.
Also it seems that 12v system is cheaper to build. You will find a lot of inexpensive motors. But bear in mind that 24v system has some advantages like less current flowing.
You see everything is possible. It depends to you and your requirements. It runs good without sonar, GPS compas and odometry. It will be a really basic mower but it will work good. You can add any sensor later.
